Scriptures on the wooden block
Without
a title, scriptures are begun and the first vocabulary
is
large and bold.
In-kyeong means printing the Buddha's Teaching engraved
on
a wooden block and binding a book. We call these books
Sutras,
the "Dharma Jewel". At the beginning, monks
copied Sutras by
hands, bound a book, and studied the Buddha's Teaching.
We call this process 'Sa-keong'. After that, printing
of a wooden
block was developed and In-kyeong was practiced actively
in |
|
| |
Korea, China, and Japan, but not in the west. The purpose
of In-kyeong is to spread the Buddha's Teachings, thus,
more people learn and follow Teachings, and cultivate
minds. So, people can eliminate sufferings and reach the
Path
of Enlightenment. |
